A name at last
Like many women, my periods were never a pleasant experience. At times I would suffer mild period pain but at other times, the pain was incredible. I consulted my doctor when I was 20 and was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome, then later, spastic colon.
I found it very difficult to conceive, but was finally blessed with a baby boy at age 31. My dreams of falling pregnant again however, never eventuated. I am now 40 years old and have now been diagnosed with endometriosis. It at last has a name and I am over the moon that I now know how to deal with it.
Unfortunately though, not knowing has taken so much irreplaceable time from me. If only I was diagnosed back then I could possibly have given my beautiful boy a brother or sister. Please any one out there who is suffering, don’t be complacent, get all the tests you can and don’t take no for an answer.
