A second opinion
I am 28 years old and I was officially diagnosed with endometriosis one month ago. I have suffered painful periods, heavy periods and frequent cycles for as long as I can remember, but in December I started to have stabbing pain, and trouble sitting down. I was referred to a gynaecologist who scheduled a laparoscopy and confirmed what I always knew.
Four years previously I had been diagnosed with a bulky uterus, suggesting adenomyosis, however nothing was done about it. I knew something was wrong though and as a result, I experienced depression.
The scans and laparoscopy also revealed endometriosis as well as a subseptate uterus, an anteverted uterus and PCOS.
My endo is close to my bowel and ureters (tubes from kidney to bladder). The operation is very risky, so I am still deciding what to do. I am currently on pain medication but don't want to stay on this for long periods of time. I have tried going to see a naturopath (no success so far) and have decided to see another gynaecologist to get a second opinion.
